Each pulse of the IPL Photofacial device, sends two types of energy into your skin, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Radio Frequency (RF) energy, that act synergistically to enhance the skin. Certain light energies treat superficial vascular and pigmented lesions like Rosacea, spider veins, skin imperfections caused by sun damage, red and brown spots. The Radio Frequency energy helps to produce significant amounts of collagen and elastin in the dermis, a thick area under of the skin. resulting in smoothing of fine to moderate wrinkles and improvement in laxity.
First, the area to be treated is cleansed. The patient is covered with a thin layer of cooling gel. A gentle pulse of light and RadioFrequency energy is administered and resulting in a momentary sensation that is easily tolerated. Each treatment takes about 30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. Immediately after the area is cleansed and you can return to your normal activities. Dark spots and small blood vessels may seem a little more noticeable, but will begin to fade after several days. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun.
Fine lines, rosacea, flushing, pore size, ruddy complexion, broken capillaries and spider veins, hyperpigmentation, melasma, freckles, age and sun spots, as well as non-pitted acne scars which can all be diminished.
All patients notice a consistent improvement in the appearance of their skin. The degree of improvement is gradual and persistent over the 15-18 week program with 3-4 treatments. A single maintenance treatment is recommended every 4 months to keep the skin looking vital, even, smooth and youthful.
